Preferred Remodeling and Construction Co. has been providing drywall repair to homeowners in Babylon and across Suffolk County for more than 23 years. We are a women-owned business that started with one crew member and grew to a team of seven experienced carpenters—every one of them an employee, not a subcontractor. If your walls or ceiling need attention, we are the drywall contractor Babylon homeowners have been calling for decades.
Babylon has a mix of older waterfront homes, mid-century construction, and newer neighborhoods inland. The variety keeps the work interesting, and our crew has the experience to handle all of it. Drywall repair is one of those jobs that look straightforward until they are not—and that is exactly when experience matters.
We handle the full range of drywall services, from small patches to full room installations:
Homeowners looking for a reliable drywall repair near me option in Babylon—we are local and we are ready.
Ceilings show age faster than walls. Settling, humidity, old leaks, and failing joint compound all leave their mark over time. Our ceiling drywall repair work covers everything from isolated cracks to full ceiling replacements. We work carefully so we are not creating more of a mess than we started with—a concern in finished rooms that our crew takes seriously.
This step is what most homeowners do not think about until they see what bad drywall finishing looks like through paint. Every seam, every fastener hole, every patch needs to be built up with compound, allowed to dry, sanded, and primed before paint ever touches it. We do not rush the finish. It is what makes the repair invisible.
We work with homeowners doing larger renovations where drywall is one part of a bigger picture. Our construction repair services cover drywall-related work within remodeling projects—new room layouts, relocated walls, basement finishing, and similar jobs. If you have a renovation in progress and need a reliable drywall contractor on the site, we can step in.
Some damage goes past the point where a patch makes sense. When a wall section has absorbed too much water or sustained major impact, the right move is a full drywall installation. We remove what is damaged, check the framing behind it, and hang new sheetrock installation correctly from the start. Finished properly, you should not be able to tell where the old wall ended and the new one began.
The way we work has not changed much since we started. We come out, look at the job in person, and give you an honest assessment. We do not manufacture extra work and we do not minimize what actually needs to be done. Our pricing is competitive and upfront, and we stick to it.

Almost always, yes. Once drywall gets wet, the paper facing breaks down and the core weakens. Painting over a stain does not fix the structural issue underneath it. Ceiling water damage repair done correctly means removing the compromised section and replacing it—not covering it up.
Homes close to water tend to experience more moisture fluctuation, which causes building materials to expand and contract more than inland homes. This seasonal movement is one of the most common causes of wall crack repair calls we get in the Babylon area. Most are cosmetic, but we always check to make sure.
Yes. In most cases, we can repair the damaged section and match the surrounding texture. If the damage is extensive or the homeowner prefers a smooth ceiling, we can remove the popcorn texture entirely and skim coat the surface.
It is the process of embedding tape into joint compound over seams and fastener heads, then building up additional coats of compound to create a flush, smooth surface. Drywall mudding and taping is a multi-step process that takes time to do correctly—and it is the foundation of any good drywall finish.
Yes. We work with small business owners and property managers on commercial drywall repair in the Babylon area. We schedule around your business hours when possible and aim to minimize disruption.
Most jobs require three coats—a tape coat, a fill coat, and a finish coat—with sanding between each. The number of coats can vary depending on the scope of the repair and the finish that is required.
