East Hampton is one of the most recognized communities on Long Island's South Fork, and the homes here reflect that. You have everything from century-old shingle-style cottages near Egypt Lane to newer builds off Montauk Highway. The interiors are cared for because they matter, both to the people who live in them and to the value of the property. At Preferred Remodeling & Construction Co., we provide drywall repair throughout the East Hampton area for homeowners who expect the work to be done right. We are a women-owned business with over 23 years of experience and a crew of seven trained carpenters who handle every job in-house.

The coastal environment in East Hampton does real things to drywall over time. Salt air, seasonal humidity swings, and the freeze-thaw cycle that runs through winter all work on wall and ceiling surfaces in ways that aren't always obvious until the paint starts cracking or the tape starts lifting. We have seen it enough to know what we're looking at when we walk through a door. When you need drywall repair in East Hampton , we are the crew that knows what causes it and how to fix it properly.

What we offer

Featured Drywall Services

Commercial Drywall Repair in East Hampton

Commercial Drywall Repair in East Hampton

East Hampton has a number of commercial properties along Newtown Lane and throughout the village center, from retail shops to professional offices. We provide commercial drywall repair for these spaces with the same attention to detail we bring to residential jobs. Our construction repair services in a commercial setting are scheduled around your business operations when possible, and we communicate throughout the process so you know what to expect each day.

Drywall Installation and Sheetrock Installation

Drywall Installation and Sheetrock Installation

Whether it's a renovation project, damage from a water event, or an addition being finished out, we handle full drywall installation and sheetrock installation throughout East Hampton. That means the complete process: removal of damaged material, framing inspection, board installation, taping, drywall mudding and taping, and finish coats through primer. We do not hand the job off or leave it partially done.

Ceiling Drywall Repair

Ceiling Drywall Repair

Ceiling repair is one of the more common calls we get in East Hampton, particularly in older homes near the water where seasonal moisture gets in through rooflines or around chimney flashings. Ceiling drywall repair in these situations involves more than patching the visible damage. We trace it back to the source, assess how far the damage has spread, and repair it in a way that holds. We also handle ceiling water damage repair for homes that have had plumbing or roof leaks.

Drywall Mudding and Taping

Drywall Mudding and Taping

The quality of any drywall repair comes down to how well the drywall mudding and taping were executed. The tape holds the seams. The compound builds and levels the surface. When it's done correctly, the finished wall is flat and you cannot find the repair. When it is done poorly, every seam and every patch telegraphs through the paint. We take the time to do it right, which means multiple coats, proper drying time, and sanding stages before the surface is ready for paint.

A Business Built on Consistency

East Hampton homeowners deal with a lot of contractors who come out for the season and move on. We are not that. Preferred Remodeling & Construction Co. has been a consistent presence in eastern Suffolk County for over 23 years, and we have built our business on the same thing every year: showing up, doing the work correctly, and standing behind it.

We started as a one-person operation. Today we have a crew of seven carpenters, all of them trained in-house and familiar with the range of homes we work in across eastern Long Island. As a home improvement contractor in East Hampton, our reputation is our business. We treat every job that way, regardless of size.

Good to know

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does salt air in East Hampton actually affect drywall?

It does, more than most homeowners realize. Salt air carries moisture into the wall cavity and around window and door frames. Over time, that moisture softens joint compound, causes tape to lift, and accelerates rust on drywall screws, which then bleeds through the surface. We see it regularly in East Hampton homes close to the ocean and the bay.

How do I know if my East Hampton ceiling needs drywall repair or a full replacement?

If the damage is limited to the surface layer, a repair is usually sufficient. If the board itself has been wet long enough to become soft or crumbly, replacement is the better choice. When we come out to do a free estimate, we will tell you honestly which situation you are dealing with.

Do you handle ceiling water damage repair in East Hampton after a roof leak?

Yes. Roof leaks are one of the most common causes of ceiling drywall repair calls we get in East Hampton, especially after late-season nor'easters. We assess the extent of the water damage, repair or replace the affected boards, and finish the surface so it blends with the surrounding ceiling.

Can you do popcorn ceiling repair in an older East Hampton home?

Yes. Popcorn ceilings from the 1970s and 1980s are still common in East Hampton homes that have not been fully updated. We repair damaged sections and can also remove the texture entirely if you want to move to a smooth ceiling finish. If the texture predates 1978, we advise testing for asbestos before any disturbance.

What does wall crack repair involve in an East Hampton house that has shifted over time?

Older homes, particularly the historic ones near the village center, shift and settle over decades. Wall crack repair in these houses involves cleaning out the crack, applying the right backing material, and finishing it properly. If the cracking is active and ongoing, we will be upfront about what that means for the longevity of the repair.

Do you do drywall repair near me in East Hampton year-round?

Yes. We are out in East Hampton throughout the year, not just during the summer season. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, and Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Call 631-543-2600 to schedule a free estimate at a time that works for you.

How do you handle drywall finishing when an existing wall has a custom texture?

We assess the texture and work to match it as closely as possible. Common applied textures like orange peel or knockdown are replicable. Hand-applied artisan finishes take more effort to match, and we will tell you upfront what level of match you can realistically expect before we start.

I searched for drywall repair near me and found you. Do you actually come out to East Hampton?

We do. East Hampton is a regular part of our eastern Suffolk County service area. As a drywall contractor near me for homeowners on the South Fork, we make the trip regularly and treat these jobs the same way we treat every other job. Call us at 631-543-2600 for a free estimate.
