Lake Grove is a small incorporated village in the Town of Brookhaven, sitting between Smith Haven Mall to the west and Lake Ronkonkoma to the east along the middle of Long Island. The housing here is predominantly single-family homes built during the suburban expansion of the 1960s through 1980s, with a mix of ranch and split-level styles on streets that feed off Route 347 and Moriches Road. These homes are well established, and drywall repair is a consistent part of maintaining them at the standard these neighbourhoods expect. Preferred Remodelling & Construction Co. provides drywall repair throughout Lake Grove for homeowners who want the job done right by an experienced local crew. We are a women-owned business with over 23 years of experience and a crew of seven trained carpenters who handle every job in-house.
Split-level homes in Lake Grove have a specific drywall challenge that does not come up as often in other housing types. The stairwells that run between levels are long, angled surfaces where cracks develop as the house moves and the angles put stress on the joints. We have repaired enough of these stairwell walls to know what they need, and it is not a simple patch.
Our drywall contractor team provides a full range of drywall services to Lake Grove homeowners and property owners:
Lake Grove homeowners who have been searching for a drywall repair near me option with real experience in central Suffolk County's housing stock, we are the contractors that have been working in this part of Long Island for over two decades.
Lake Grove has commercial properties along Route 347 and in the business areas near Smith Haven Mall. We provide commercial drywall repair for offices, retail spaces, and light commercial buildings in the area. Our construction repair services in commercial settings follow the same standards as our residential work. We schedule around business hours when possible and communicate throughout the project.
When a repair situation has gone beyond patching, or a renovation is being finished out, we handle complete drywall installation and sheetrock installation throughout Lake Grove. The full scope: removal of damaged material, framing inspection, board installation, taping, drywall mudding and taping, and all finish coats through primer. One crew handles it from start to finish without handoffs.
Ceiling drywall repair in Lake Grove's ranch and split-level homes frequently involves original ceilings from the 1960s and 1970s that are past their maintenance cycle, or areas where a plumbing issue above a finished ceiling has caused water damage. We assess the full extent of the damage before we touch the surface, which is the only reliable way to make sure the repair holds. We also handle ceiling water damage repair for homes that have experienced leaks from above.
Drywall mudding and taping is the stage that determines whether a drywall repair is visible six months after it is done or completely invisible. The tape holds the seam. The compound builds and levels the surface. We apply multiple coats, sand between each, and do not rush the drying time. When it is finished, the wall is flat and the repair is not something anyone walking through the room would notice.
Lake Grove is a community that has been through decades of change around it – the mall, the commercial growth along 347, and the shift in how the whole corridor developed – but the neighbourhoods themselves have stayed steady and so has the expectation for quality work inside those homes. Preferred Remodelling & Construction Co. has been consistent across Suffolk County for over 23 years. We started with one person doing the work. Today it is a crew of seven carpenters, and the standard has not changed.

Split-level homes have angled framing sections in the stairwells where different structural planes meet. As the house moves seasonally, that connection point is under more stress than a standard flat wall. Cracks along those angled surfaces are common in Lake Grove's split-levels, and wall crack repair in these areas requires more preparation and the right materials to hold over time.
Yes. Ceiling water damage repair is a common call in Lake Grove, particularly in two-storey homes where a bathroom or laundry above a finished ceiling has had a leak. We assess how far the moisture has spread, determine whether repair or replacement is the right call, and finish the work so the ceiling blends properly.
Yes. Popcorn ceilings are common in Lake Grove homes from the 1960s through 1980s. We repair damaged areas and can also remove the texture entirely if you prefer a smooth finish. Homes predating 1978 should be tested for asbestos in the texture material before any disturbance.
Basement drywall installation in Lake Grove involves assessing the moisture conditions of the space first. Homes in central Suffolk can have variable below-grade moisture, and installing drywall over a damp foundation wall without addressing that first is a mistake we will not make. We recommend moisture-resistant materials where the conditions call for it and frame the walls correctly before any board goes up.
We assess the surface and determine the finish level underneath the paint. If the texture is accessible, we can replicate it. Multiple paint layers do not prevent a good texture match, but they can make it harder to feather the edges of a repair invisibly. We explain what the repair will look like and set realistic expectations before we start.
Our scheduling depends on current workload. We aim to do estimate visits promptly and schedule work as quickly as our calendar allows. Call 631-543-2600 and we will tell you honestly what the current timeline looks like. We do not quote timelines we cannot keep.
We handle settling cracks, stress cracks around window and door frames, hairline cracks along taped seams, and larger cracks that indicate the board has shifted. The approach depends on what is causing the crack. We assess first and repair in a way that addresses the actual problem, not just the visible symptom.
